Springer Nature has a new opensource policy

Springer Nature has recently implemented an open source policy for its books and journals, which complements the unified data policy introduced last year. This policy is a step towards supporting research transparency.

All articles in Springer journals will now include a Code Availability section, and authors will be encouraged to publicly share code, use persistent identifiers, and cite the software and used processes. Journals with existing code sharing policies will not be affected. For journals where this issue has not been addressed before, there will be a gradual implementation through integration into Snapp (Springer Nature’s article processing platform)..

Further information can be found in the related press release or on the pages dedicated to the publisher’s general policies.
