Webinar: Are We Measuring Open Science the Right Way?

May 29, 2026

When: May 29, 2026, 11:00–12:30 (CEST)
Where: online

On May 29, 2026, from 11:00 to 12:30, the EOSC Track project will host an online webinar titled “Are We Measuring Open Science the Right Way?”, focusing on how Open Science indicators are used in monitoring, research assessment, and policy-making.

The discussion will address how metrics can support evidence-based decision-making, while also highlighting that indicators are not neutral tools – they influence researcher behaviour, institutional priorities, and funding decisions. The aim is to explore principles for their responsible use in the European context.

The webinar will bring together European initiatives working on Open Science monitoring and research assessment reform, in particular OpenAIRE, CoARA, OSMI, and Make Data Count. It will also provide broader context on EOSC Track activities and the development of the EOSC Open Science Observatory as a policy intelligence tool.
