RVVI’s recommendation
The Research, Development and Innovation Council recommends to research organisations that (selected recommendations only):
- led their researchers to set up ORCID,
- consider the establishment and use of a global, unique and persistent Research Organisation Registry (ROR) identifier,
- consider the establishment and use of a global, unique Information and Documentation Research Activity Identifier (RAiD) for their research projects.
The ORCID identifier is already present in the current R&D&I IS (since version 2.6.0) and is optional. With the version of IS VaVaI 3.4.0, which will be implemented at the beginning of 2025, an optional ROR field will be added in the CEP and RIV section for the beneficiary, the other project participant and the result submitter, and an optional RAiD field for the project. The possibility of incorporating the provision on the use of ORCID as a mandatory identifier of the researcher in the IS R&DaI into the relevant legislation is currently being examined.
