ÚFCH JH – job vacancy – Software Developer in the Open Science Team

The J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences is announcing a call for applications for the position of Software Developer in the Open Science Team.

We are looking for a team member to develop and deploy software for scientific data management within Open Science projects.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency in Java / Kotlin / Python
• Knowledge of system architecture, including:
  • HTTP(S), REST API
  • Databases and SQL
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Microservices
• Experience in web application development
• Ability to analyze code and implement new features
• Experience with project management in Git
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the concept of linked data
• Ability to learn and use relevant tools in application development
• Good command of English (minimum B2 level)

Additional Desired Skills

• Experience with containerization and virtualization tools
• Deploying services on container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Practical knowledge of NoSQL databases, including:
  • Understanding the concept of linked data
  • Working with graph databases / RDF triple stores (Neo4j, Virtuoso, Apache Jena, etc.)
  • Designing and implementing software using NoSQL databases
  • Experience using SPARQL endpoints
