Open Science II: Call for Collaboration No. 1 – Mini-projects

As the beneficiary of the Open Science II project, Charles University announced Call for Collaboration No. 1 – Mini-projects on February 2, 2026. The call aims to support activities related to the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative in the Czech Republic, in particular discipline-specific and interdisciplinary activities that further develop the planned project outputs and contribute to the functioning of the National Data Infrastructure (NDI).

The main objective of the call is to engage a broader target group, especially research communities, in key activities of the Open Science II project. These activities focus primarily on the FAIRification of research data, metadata and repositories, ensuring the standardisation and interoperability of systems, and linking different data technologies necessary for the development of a data-driven research environment. Mini-projects may be implemented by the applicants themselves as well as by other institutions involved in the EOSC CZ initiative.

Eligible applicants

Eligible applicants are entities that meet the definition of a research and knowledge dissemination organisation under the Framework for State Aid for Research, Development and Innovation (2022/C 414/01), in particular:

  • public research institutions,
  • public higher education institutions,
  • other legal entities.

Beneficiaries and partners of the Open Science II project are also eligible applicants.

Focus of mini-projects

Mini-projects must further develop or complement existing outputs of the Open Science II project and be prepared in cooperation with the EOSC CZ community. Outputs must be focused on one or more of the following disciplinary or thematic clusters:

  • Bio/health/food,
  • Material science and technologies,
  • Data management for artificial intelligence and machine learning,
  • Social sciences,
  • Physical sciences,
  • Humanities and arts,
  • Environmental sciences,
  • Sensitive data.

An integral part of the mini-project application is a statement from the relevant EOSC CZ Working Group, confirming that the planned output builds on the activities of the Open Science II project or is necessary to ensure a data-oriented research environment on the applicant’s side. Specific requirements for eligible activities are set out in the call documentation available on the call’s website. Further details on applications for EOSC CZ Working Group statements can be found here.
