On September 11–12, 2025, the 12th edition of PUBMET – the Conference on Scholarly Communication in the Context of Open Science – will take place in Zagreb, Croatia. The conference focuses on issues of quality in science and scholarly communication, which form the core of the program. Its goal is to bring together researchers, librarians, publishers, service providers, and policymakers from around the world to collectively explore what constitutes high-quality research, how it can be meaningfully assessed, and what role open science plays in this process.

The program will be organized into eight thematic sessions, featuring keynote lectures, short presentations, poster sessions, and panel discussions. Key topics include research quality, peer review and evaluation in open science, legal frameworks and copyright, implementation and education, research system reform, sharing and reuse of research data, diamond open access, infrastructure and tools for open science, and the quality of scholarly publishing. Speakers from across Europe will share innovative approaches, best practices, and practical solutions aimed at enhancing transparency, inclusivity, and the overall impact of scientific work.

The conference is organized by the Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication in collaboration with the Ruđer Bošković Institute, University of Zadar (Department of Information Sciences), University of Zagreb (Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Medicine), University of Rijeka (Faculty of Medicine), and Dubrava University Hospital. The event is also supported by prominent European open science organizations such as OpenAIRE and SPARC Europe, which contribute to advancing open access, research transparency, and international collaboration.
