European Galaxy Days 2025

October 1 – 3, 2025

When: October 1–3, 2025
Where: Freiburg, Germany

From October 1 to 3, 2025, Freiburg in Germany will host the European Galaxy Days (EGD) – a three-day event for anyone who uses, develops, or manages the Galaxy platform.

Galaxy is an open-source platform for analyzing biological data, enabling researchers to collaborate across institutions and countries. It supports the sharing of analytical workflows, promotes reproducibility, and encourages open science. The platform is used, for example, to process and analyze sequencing and genomic data, integrate different types of experimental results, and build bioinformatics pipelines. Galaxy also makes it possible for users without advanced programming skills to perform complex analyses and share their methods with others.

The first two days of EGD will feature talks, demonstrations, and Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions, where participants can exchange experiences and discuss specific topics. The third day is dedicated to CoFest – a hackathon and hands-on programming with the Galaxy community.

EGD runs alongside the ELIXIR Galaxy Community Face-to-Face and the EuroScienceGateway Final Conference, giving participants the chance to make international connections and expand their collaborations. Registration is free, but early registration is recommended.

European Galaxy Days welcome anyone interested in Galaxy – whether you want to explore new analytical approaches, try them out in practice, or simply meet people from the community. The event provides space for inspiration, the exchange of experiences, and keeping up with the latest developments in the platform alongside researchers and developers from across Europe.
