The Czech Association of Research Managers and Administrators (CZARMA) is organizing its third annual conference for members, taking place on September 18, 2025, in Hradec Králové. This year’s conference will focus on the theme “How do researchers perceive the support provided by RMAs?”, exploring their expectations, experiences, and the factors that make collaboration with project managers and research administrators truly valuable. Discussions will address both the Czech academic environment and international experiences. The program will feature prominent figures from the Czech scientific community and will include a presentation on the newly emerged profession of the data steward. The conference will be followed by the 4th general assembly of the association.

Accompanying Program

On September 17, 2025, a preparatory in-person program will be held in the form of pre-conference roundtables (14:00 – 16:00). These interactive discussion sessions will focus on key competencies defined by the European Research Management Competence Framework (RM Comp), which summarizes essential skills for research managers and supports their professional development and the harmonization of practices across the European Research Area (ERA).

Participants will choose 4 out of 6 thematic roundtables, facilitated by experienced members of the CZARMA community. Topics will include cultural sensitivity, specialized expertise, artificial intelligence, stakeholder engagement, communication, and the identification and development of scientific talents.

Following the roundtables, an evening networking event will take place at café & music bar NãPLAVKA (18:00 – 22:00), providing an informal setting for community members to meet and connect.

Call for Poster Submissions

The conference invites poster submissions on the following topics:

• Reflections on support from the perspective of researchers
• Competences and skills of RMAs in practice
• Project management and technical expertise
• Relationships, communication, and trust-building

The abstract submission deadline is June 30, 2025, and the final poster submission deadline is August 30, 2025.

Registration

Registration for in-person attendance (including the accompanying program) is open until June 30, 2025, and online participation registration is open until September 5, 2025. The conference fee is 950 CZK. Participation is limited to CZARMA members; membership registration is available here.
