Webinar on Secondary and Archival Data in Social Sciences

When: September 19, 2025, 11:00–12:00
Where: Online

CESSDA in collaboration with Infra4NextGen will host a webinar Exploring secondary and archival data in social science research: An introduction. This webinar provides a comprehensive introduction to working with pre-existing datasets, covering both the significant advantages and inherent challenges of this research approach.

Reusing secondary data offers compelling benefits including time savings, expanded research scope, and the ability to analyse large, existing datasets for trends across different time points or geographical contexts. However, researchers must navigate important considerations around data alignment with research objectives, ontological concerns about data representation, and epistemological limitations when working with data not originally collected for their specific research questions.
