Webinar: DataCite Metadata with OpenAlex
When: November 6, 2025, 16:00–17:00 CET
Where: online
Open research data alone are not enough – to be truly discoverable, citable, and reusable, they need high-quality metadata. This is the focus of the webinar “Exploring DataCite Metadata with OpenAlex”, taking place on November 6, 2025, from 16:00 to 17:00, which will introduce the new integration between OpenAlex and DataCite.
OpenAlex is the world’s largest open research catalog. It provides access to data on publications, authors, institutions, grants, and research outputs, connecting them into a comprehensive ecosystem. DataCite is an international non-profit organization that provides persistent DOI identifiers and metadata for research outputs according to its Metadata Schema, a widely used standard for describing and linking research data.
With this integration, OpenAlex now includes DataCite DOI metadata, making it easier to search for and analyze relationships between publications, datasets, preprints, and grants, and improving the visibility of research outputs across disciplines.
During the webinar, participants will learn how to work with these interconnected data, search for specific records in OpenAlex, and enhance their own metadata to make it more discoverable. After the event, the slides and recording will be available through the DataCite Zenodo Community.
