Open Science Working groups

If you are interested in new developments in Open Science, we encourage you to consider joining Open Science working groups and communities. This will provide you with information about current events, practices at other institutions in the Czech Republic and, last but not least, the opportunity to actively participate in meetings of these groups and communities and thus contribute to the development of science in the Czech Republic.

OS ACLU Working group

Association of Libraries of Czech Universities (ACLU) brings together libraries of Czech colleges and universities. The area of Open Science is gaining importance in academia and libraries are often the department that deals with Open Science topics at the institution.

That is why the Open Science Working Group (OS WG) has been operating at ACLU since 2022. This group aims to keep track of all relevant trends in the field of Open Science and to report on them on an ongoing basis. Meetings are held regularly once a month, on the first Wednesday of every month online on the MS Teams platform. These informal meetings start at 11:00 and last about an hour. About 1-2 times a year a face-to-face meeting is organized.

The opportunity to participate in the OS WG is also open to interested non-members. Anyone with an interest in what is happening in Open Science is welcome, from avid practitioners to complete beginners who have no experience with the topic and want advice. If you are interested in more detailed information, please visit their website of Working Group here (CZE). To join the group, contact Žaneta Procházkova – zaneta.prochazkova(at)ruk.cuni.cz.

OS CZARMA Working group

The Czech Association of Research Managers and Administrators (CZARMA) is a professional association of research managers and administrators. It aims to bring together and connect managers and administrators in science, to be a platform for sharing experience, know-how and good practice and generally to actively participate in shaping the scientific environment in the Czech Republic.

Within CZARMA, a working group on Open Science has been established, which focuses on Open Access, Research Data Management, Citizen Science and other related topics. The coordinator of the group is Jiří Marek (MUNI). The members are informed about the events of the group through a regular email “CZARMA Informs”. In order to join the group, it is necessary to become a member of this professional association, i.e. to register and pay the annual membership fee. If you are interested in more detailed information, please visit their website: CZARMA – Thematic Groups (CZE).

Data Stewards Community

If you are involved in data management in your department, or if you are just interested in this topic, it is advisable to join the Data Stewards Community in the Czech Republic. This Community was created together with the EOSC project and is currently being further developed in the National Repository Platform project under the key activity – education. The Discord platform was chosen for the communication of the group. The group can be joined via this link: https://discord.gg/eMpzXFRaPn.
