Effective data visualization is an essential skill for researchers working with complex datasets. A well-designed chart can communicate insights clearly, while poor visualization may lead to misinterpretation. To support researchers in this area, ELIXIR Estonia is organizing an online three-hour workshop on September 30, 2025, led by Diana Pilvar, which will explore the theory of effective data visualization.

Participants will learn how to choose the right chart types, apply best practices, optimize the data-ink ratio, and use color effectively, all through practical examples and interactive exercises. The workshop is aimed at researchers, PhD students, and students seeking to enhance their data presentation skills. By the end of the session, participants will be able to choose suitable charts, avoid common visualization mistakes, and maximize clarity in their data communication.
