New OpenPlato Course on Reproducibility

OpenAIRE, in collaboration with the TIER2 project, has launched a free online course focused on strengthening research integrity and addressing the reproducibility crisis in modern science. The TIER2 Reproducibility Training course is now available on the OpenPlato e-learning platform, offering researchers, publishers, and funders both theoretical knowledge and practical tools to enhance research integrity and reproducible research practices.

The course consists of three specialized modules, each addressing critical aspects of reproducibility in specific contexts — for publishers, for qualitative research, and for AI-driven research. Participants may enroll in the full course or select individual modules according to their interests.

You can register for the course here, and it can be completed at any time and at your own pace.

Reproducibility Crisis

Modern science faces a critical challenge – across disciplines, from social sciences to AI research, studies are failing to produce consistent, verifiable results. Researchers struggle with issues of transparency, data management, and methodological consistency, undermining the reliability and trustworthiness of scientific findings. This crisis threatens not only the integrity of individual studies but also public trust in research outcomes and the efficiency of scientific progress.

About the TIER2 Project

TIER2 (enhancing Trust, Integrity and Efficiency in Research through next-level Reproducibility) is a three-year international project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme and UK Research and Innovation. The project systematically investigates reproducibility across three broad research areas (social, life, and computer sciences) and two cross-disciplinary stakeholder groups (research publishers and funders). Using co-creative methods, the project develops and tests new tools, connects initiatives, engages communities, and implements interventions and policies to enhance the reuse and quality of research results in the European research area and globally.
