Metadata – COSMOS – record
The COSMOS conference, which took place in Paris on 11-12 April 2024, has now been recorded and can be found here with the programme.
This event was the first edition of an international conference on smart metadata called “COSMOS” (from the Conference On Smart Metadata for Official Statistics). At the conference, the participants (mainly from the field of statistics) defined how to use, share and manage Smart Metadata to its full potential.
Globally, the FAIR movement aims to make data easier to find and use. The term Smart Metadata, coined at COSMOS, means metadata that is fully aligned with Open Science and FAIR principles:
- Standard: they are understandable and usable everywhere
- Active: they are machine processable and drive the statistical process
- FAIR: they enable data discovery, accessibility, interoperability and reuse…
The development and standardisation of metadata at national level in the Czech Republic is conceived in the framework of the implementation of EOSC in the Czech Republic. Národní Metadatový Adresář is a separate part of the National Data Infrastructure and is essential for the implementation of EOSC in the Czech Republic. The Metadata Directory is a central directory in which basic metadata about research data will be stored with respect to FAIR principles. The design of the basic metadata model for this directory will be developed by the Metadata Working Group. Its further development and functionality will be continuously updated within this working group. At the same time, this group is primarily to provide support and consultation on research data metadata management, both at a general level and for scientific disciplines. If you are interested, you can join it here.
