GraspOS Webinar: Reforming Researcher Assessment with OPUS
When: October 30, 2025, 11:00–12:00 CET
Where: online
Research evaluation has traditionally focused on publications in high-impact journals and bibliometrics, despite the fact that researchers perform a wide range of activities in their daily practice. The shift towards open science has not yet had a significant impact on career evaluation.
The Open and Universal Science (OPUS) project is an EU-funded initiative aimed at reforming research assessment practices to better incentivize and reward Open Science. Led by a consortium of 18 organizations, the project develops interventions, metrics, and action plans to integrate Open Science into Research Performing and Funding Organisations. Through pilot implementations and stakeholder feedback, OPUS seeks to create a more inclusive and transparent research evaluation system that aligns with the European Research Area’s goals.
The GraspOS project is a Horizon Europe initiative aimed at transforming research assessment by embedding Open Science (OS) principles into evaluation practices. It focuses on developing a federated infrastructure that provides tools, services, and guidance to support responsible research assessment across various levels—from individual researchers to national systems.
The presenter is Gareth O’Neill (Technopolis Group and OPUS Project), whom the Czech audience may know from KRECON 2023, KRECON 2022, and KRECON 2021, organized by NTK, where he serves as a moderator.
