FAIR RDM Bootcamp for Data Stewards

When: October 13–16, 2025
Where: online

Proper management of research data according to FAIR principles is a key element of modern research practices. Data stewards play a central role in ensuring that data are well-organized, securely shared, and reusable. For early-career data stewards and others wishing to develop their skills in these areas, OpenAIRE, in collaboration with partners, is organizing a four-day FAIR RDM Bootcamp. The event will take place online from October 13 to 16, 2025, and combines live workshops, hands-on exercises, and self-paced e-learning via the OpenPlato platform.

During the Bootcamp, participants will gain practical skills essential to the work of a data steward. They will learn how to organize and document metadata effectively, use tools such as Dataverse, apply FAIR principles through OpenAIRE services (Graph, Explore, Connect), and address legal and ethical issues related to data sharing. The program also includes practical exercises, discussions, and reflection sessions, allowing participants to apply what they have learned, share experiences with peers, and build professional connections.

The Bootcamp is divided into two parts. The open sessions on October 13 are accessible to everyone. The closed sessions (October 14–16) are reserved for selected participants. Selection is based on profile suitability and professional experience, with priority given to the first twenty early-career data stewards. Participants who engage actively and complete daily tasks can earn a Certificate of Completion and a digital badge. More details can be found in the Participant Guide.

Registration for each day is open until the end of September through short Zoom forms designed to capture participants’ experience and motivation:
