Citizen science is a concept that engages the general public in scientific research across both natural and social sciences. It relies on volunteers for data collection and analysis, significantly accelerating large-scale projects in fields such as biology, medicine, astronomy, and geography.
In the Czech Republic, citizen science is supported by the platform Citizenscience.cz, managed by the Institute of Geonics of the CAS. This platform serves as a national portal, promoting projects and connecting the public with researchers.
The webpage on citizen science at the Czech Academy of Sciences highlights projects and initiatives involving the public in scientific research within the Academy. It offers information on ongoing projects, opportunities for participation, and inspiration from best practices.
