Czech Core Metadata Model: Seminar and Follow-Up Workshop (cze)

When: September 26, and October 8, 2025
Where: National Library of Technology, Prague

This autumn brings two opportunities to explore the Czech Core Metadata Model (CCMM) – a national standard for describing research data in the Czech Republic – and the Dataspecer tool, which supports the creation and management of metadata profiles. Both events are organized by the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague and are aimed primarily at data stewards, curators, and repository managers. The events are designed to build on each other: the seminar will provide a theoretical foundation and overview of key principles, while the workshop will offer hands-on practice.

CCMM Seminar: Model, Principles, Tools (September 26, 2025)

The first event will be a full-day seminar in the Balling Hall at NTK. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of metadata modeling. The program will cover the development and structure of CCMM and demonstrate how the Dataspecer tool can be used for working with profiles. The seminar is designed as an introduction to the topic and will also include a networking session, providing space to share experiences and establish contacts. The seminar will be held in Czech, in person, with a recording available. More information can be found here, you can register until September 15, 2025, here.

Workshop on Working with CCMM and the Dataspecer Tool (October 8, 2025)

The seminar will be followed by a full-day hands-on workshop in the NTK Education Centre, intended for curators and repository managers who will be implementing CCMM in practice. Participants will work with a sample deposit form, create and manage metadata profiles, and learn the basics of building an application profile in Dataspecer. Most of the workshop will be devoted to practical exercises, so participants are required to bring their own laptop. The workshop is limited to 30 participants and will be conducted in Czech. More information is available here, you can register until September 29, 2025, here.
