The Open Science Cookbook

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has published The Open Science Cookbook (edited by Emily Bongiovanni, Melanie Gainey, Chasz Griego, and Lencia McKee), a comprehensive practical guide designed to help academic libraries develop and expand open science services.

The cookbook provides over 20 practical lesson plans and learning activities for supporting collaborative, transparent, openly accessible, and reproducible research. These “recipes” are organized into five key areas: program development, instruction, outreach, events, and collaborations.

Key topics covered include:

  • Building campus-wide open science programs and dedicated librarian positions
  • Integrating open science into existing workshops and curricula
  • Developing targeted outreach materials and community engagement strategies
  • Organizing open science events and symposiums
  • Creating collaborative partnerships across institutions

The Cookbook has been published in print as well as online as open access edition, available here.
