Public Hearing on Open Science and the New Data Management Tools Catalogue

On Friday September 12, 2025, a public hearing titled Making Sense of Open Science, took place. The event offered an opportunity to discuss and reflect on how open science is currently practiced in the Czech Republic and the directions it could take in the future. You can watch the full stream here, and an edited version will be available later.

At the same time, the complementary public discussion In Your Own Words is still ongoing on the eDemOS platform. Participants can share their thoughts and vote on proposals for improving the implementation of open science principles. Voting has been extended until October 15, 2025.

During the event, the Open Science Department of the Library of the Czech Academy of Sciences introduced its new project – the Data Management Tools Catalogue. This catalogue brings together a variety of tools for managing research data, including those tailored to the Czech research environment, and organizes them according to the different stages of the data lifecycle. Each tool is accompanied by a brief description.

The project is still a work in progress and is currently hosted on GitHub Pages. Please note that it is not yet fully responsive and is optimized for full-screen viewing on a computer (F11). Planned improvements include, among others, the ability to filter tools by discipline (currently indicated by icons), expanding the catalogue with additional commonly used tools, and adding direct links to each tool. Suggestions and tips for additional tools can be submitted via the Padlet platform.
