IDCC 2026: Call for Submissions

When: February 16 – 18, 2026
Where: Zagreb, Croatia

In February 2026, the next edition of the International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC) will take place in Zagreb, Croatia. Over the past two decades, this annual event has earned a unique position in the field of research data management. It regularly brings together data curators, librarians, researchers, and representatives of research infrastructures from around the world to exchange experiences, discuss the future of open science, and explore how to better preserve, protect, and share digital data.

The upcoming edition, held from February 16 to 18, 2026, will explore a timely and powerful theme: “AI, austerity, and authoritarianism.” These pressing issues deeply shape the way we think about data today. With this theme, the organizers aim to highlight external influences – such as budget cuts, political interference, and the rapid rise of artificial intelligence – that may fall outside the immediate scope of the professional community but directly impact day-to-day data practices. From the way data is generated and interpreted, to the policies that govern its use, these forces are reshaping the digital landscape. At the same time, the theme also creates space for hope and resilience. Alongside the challenges, the conference welcomes stories of individuals and institutions who are standing strong against these pressures – those who, through digital curation, continue to support open science, transparency, and societal progress. IDCC 2026 seeks to amplify these voices.

The conference is organized by the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) – a UK-based center that has been offering expert guidance and hands-on support in research data management since 2004. DCC provides a wide range of tools, training, consultation services, and guidance materials, primarily targeting the academic community in the UK and beyond. However, its services are also available to organizations in the commercial sector.

Those interested in contributing can choose from several formats: papers, lightning talks, posters, or workshop proposals. The submission deadlines are as follows:
– Papers and lightning talks: by August 3, 2025
– Posters: by September 14, 2025
– Workshop proposals: by September 30, 2025

Details about submission topics and abstract guidelines are available here.
