[BC]² Basel Computational Biology Conference 2025: Program and Registration
When: September 8–10, 2025
Where: Basel, Switzerland
From September 8 to 10, 2025, the Swiss city of Basel will host the next edition of the [BC]² – Basel Computational Biology Conference, organized biennially by the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). This major European event in bioinformatics and computational biology brings together bioinformatics and AI to explore how their synergy is driving the evolution of data-driven biology.
The main program will feature three days of lectures, discussions, and interdisciplinary networking. Participants can look forward to topics related to infectious disease research, cancer, evolutionary processes, environmental studies, and clinical data. Sessions will also cover protein design, single-cell and spatial omics, as well as applications of AI in medical informatics. Special emphasis will be placed on bridging research and practice, including inspiring examples of academic projects that have evolved into successful startups. The program includes keynote lectures by internationally recognized experts, thematic sessions with selected contributions, two poster sessions, and the ceremonial announcement of the SIB Bioinformatics Awards and SIB Remarkable Outputs.
The conference will be preceded on Monday, September 8, 2025, by a series of hands-on workshops and tutorials held at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel. These workshops offer participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in areas such as evolutionary data analysis, visualization and interpretation of omics data, machine learning applications, and working with biological databases. The program is designed to combine theoretical overviews with practical exercises led by experienced instructors. Participation in the workshops requires separate registration and is subject to limited capacity.
Conference registration is open until September 1, 2025.
SIB, the organization behind the conference, is an independent non-profit institution that unites more than 900 researchers across Switzerland. It provides tools, services, and infrastructure for working with biological data, promotes open science, and connects fundamental research with clinical and societal applications.
