Basel Computational Biology Conference
When: 9-10 September, 2025
Submission deadline: 27.02.2025 !
Where: Congress Center Basel, Switzerland
The [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference Conference is significant scientific meeting of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics SIB, held every two years. This event is described as Switzerland’s premier computational biology event and is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, attracting up to approximately 500 scientists from academia, industry and healthcare.
This year’s conference theme is “Bioinformatics meets AI: shaping the future of data-driven biology“. The conference will therefore focus on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence in bioinformatics. The Scientific Committee is preparing a programme focusing on six key sub-themes with sessions based on selected abstracts.
These key sub-themes are:
- Bioinformatics for Cancer Research
- Bioinformatics in infectious diseases: solving problems from hosts to pathogens
- Clinical data science: advances in diagnosis and patient care
- Computational methods for single-cell and spatial omics: from data to biological insights
- Integrative bioinformatics for evolutionary and environmental processes
- Protein design and molecular assembly modelling: breakthroughs and applications in computational structural biology
Abstracts that do not fit into any of the above categories may be submitted in the “Other” category. For more information on the different sections and how to submit an abstract, please visit the abstract submission page.
At the conference you will experience inspiring keynote lectures by international experts, scientific presentations selected from submitted abstracts, hands-on tutorials, workshops, interactive poster sessions and networking. A special session will address the transition from academia to industry and focus on transforming AI-based bioinformatics projects into successful start-ups. The special session will also feature SIB awards such as the SIB Bioinformatics Awards and SIBRemarkableOutputs, which celebrate excellence in computational biology.
Attend the conference
You will be able to attend the conference exclusively in person, and in Basel (Switzerland). You can submit your talks and poster presentations to the conference. Abstracts should correspond to one of the six scientific subtopics mentioned above. All abstracts undergo a blind peer-review process conducted by the Scientific Committee.
