MetaCentrum is looking for ambassadors at universities and research institutions
MetaCentrum, which operates within the CESNET association and provides the Czech research community with access to computational resources and storage capacities, is preparing an ambassador programme for experienced users of its infrastructure. The aim is to strengthen local support at universities and research institutions and to facilitate the sharing of practical experience with its use.
Today, computational infrastructures form a standard part of many scientific fields, particularly in research involving large datasets or computationally demanding tasks. Access to computing resources and storage contributes to more transparent and more reproducible data workflows, which are now part of routine research practice.
At their institutions, ambassadors will serve as contact persons for colleagues and students who wish to better understand the possibilities offered by MetaCentrum or start using its services. Their role primarily consists of sharing practical experience, recommending relevant materials and services, and providing feedback to the infrastructure operators. The programme also includes connecting ambassadors across institutions through shared communication channels and informal meetings.
The programme is open to current MetaCentrum users from universities and research institutions, in particular academic staff, researchers, lecturers, and IT specialists. The first step is participation in a free one-day training session, which will take place in July 2026 in Prague or Brno, depending on participants’ preferences.
Interest in participation can be expressed via a survey here until June 19, 2026. The registration form will be opened once the survey closes and the organisers have selected a specific date for the training (those who miss the survey deadline will still be able to register later). The survey also serves to collect information about the experience and expectations of future ambassadors, which the organisers will use to shape the training content.
More information about the programme is available here.
