EOSC CZ Node joins the EOSC Federation
The Czech Republic has reached a significant milestone in open science: the EOSC CZ Node has been approved as a candidate node in the second wave of the EOSC Federation. The expansion of the Federation was confirmed at the 9th European Tripartite Event on April 21, 2026, in Nicosia, Cyprus, based on a joint decision by the European Commission, the EOSC Steering Board, and the EOSC Association. In total, 14 new candidate nodes were approved, including eight at the national level, among them the Czech node.
An EOSC Node serves as an entry point for national or thematic infrastructures into the European federation for sharing and reusing research data. The EOSC CZ Node coordinates Czech participation and builds on the e-INFRA CZ infrastructure, connecting it to the European environment and extending it with the specific needs of the Czech research community.
The EOSC CZ Node includes services such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, Jupyter Notebooks, the Galaxy platform, and SensitiveCloud TRE for working with sensitive data. It also integrates tools and repositories such as the Data Stewardship Wizard, the Archaeological Map of the Czech Republic, the Molecular Biophysics Database, and the Czech Social Science Data Archive. The ecosystem is further extended by a service incubator designed to facilitate the onboarding of additional Czech tools and repositories into the EOSC Federation. The EOSC CZ Node also participates in five international use cases focused on AI applications, federated analysis of sensitive data, and data sharing across EOSC nodes in Europe.
