Citizen Science over Coffee: When One Scientist Is Not Enough

April 22, 2026

When: April 22, 2026, 16:00–18:00
Where: Kavárna kaFFe, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Arna Nováka 1 (Building D, 1st floor – in the Reading Room), Brno

Citizen Science is an increasingly important part of modern research. It shows that scientific knowledge does not have to emerge only in laboratories or academic teams, but can also involve the wider public. This approach helps expand data collection and broadens the perspectives from which research questions can be explored.

On April 22, 2026, from 16:00 to 18:00, the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno will host the event Citizen Science over Coffee: When One Scientist Is Not Enough. The programme will be based on a fun quiz that guides participants through different forms of citizen science. The aim is not to test knowledge, but to introduce what Citizen Science involves and how people can take part in it. Participation can take simple forms such as observing the surrounding environment, using a mobile phone, or other straightforward activities.

The event takes place as part of April, the Month of Citizen Science, and aims to introduce this approach to the public through a shared activity. The meeting is open to students, staff, and the general public, and no prior experience is required.
